Joining the healthcare team at Mobilong Prison, you will assist with the provision of professional, high quality nursing care to patients within a correctional services setting. Assessing individual patient needs, you will plan, implement or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options. You will also provide health education, counselling and rehabilitation programs to improve the health outcomes of individual patients or groups. The South Australian Prison Health Service (SAPHS) provides services directly, to adult men and women incarcerated in all government run prisons in South Australia. SAPHS provides primary health care focussing on chronic and acute disease and promoting good health, working collaboratively with Mental Health Services and Drug and Alcohol Services to support and manage patients with mental illness and significant substance abuse problems. We work in partnership with the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) to deliver health care in line with that offered to the general community.
You will need to be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a correctional services healthcare setting.
