The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located in the East Pilbara region of WA and provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the Martu people of Newman and the four remote Aboriginal communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.

Our passionate and multidisciplinary team of qualified and experienced health professionals including GP's, Remote Area Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers provide holistic and high quality health care to clients throughout the region.

Due to expand its services in July 2020, PAMS will be opening a new clinic in Newman referred to as 'The Newman Hub'. Linking residents with a range of healthcare providers, the Newman Hub will be the centre for primary health care services for Ab original people living in Newman and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting time to join a growing organisation and contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of the local Aboriginal community.

About the Opportunity
The Clinical Manager - Newman Hub is directly accountable to the CEO, and is responsible for coordinating and managing the provision of high quality and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the clients of PAMS. This includes but is not limited to coordinating and supporting the multidisciplinary and integrated approach to the Newman Hub team's goals to manage illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide education and training and encourage community health action. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the day to day operations of the Newman Hub including planning, service delivery, portfolio management and consumables as well as assisting with assets manageme nt.

Building the capacity of Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other Indigenous staff to provide culturally safe health care is pivotal. This position collaborates extensively with other areas and organisations, both internal and external, to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

To be considered for this position, you must have:
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
* Extensive experience in the delivery of primary health care services and/or health care management and able to demonstrate a sound professional background of primary health care and health care management.
* Demonstrated abili ty to provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team and to manage the human, financial and physical resources of a primary health care centre.
* A clear respect for Aboriginal culture, willingness to listen and learn and commitment to participate in inter-cultural awareness activities as directed by PAMS, and ability to practice in a culturally safe manner.
* Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, drivers of health inequality, principles of primary health care and relevant legislation governing work practice in WA.
* Proven broad comprehensive primary health care experience with advanced clinical skills and competencies needed to work effectively in the Aboriginal primary health care setting.
* Established ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of stakeholders including the preparation of reports and correspondence.
* Proven ability and desire to work strategically with a multidisciplinary team to drive positive change in health outcomes.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of staff, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA "C" Class Driver's Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) and Working With Children Check prior to appointment. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement.

While you will face diverse new challenges in the role, you will also enjoy an attractive remuneration package in cluding a base salary of $116,378.00 - $136,145.80 per annum plus superannuation. PAMS operates four remote sites, three of which have a team of one nurse and a range of ancillary workers. Although the successful candidates will have a substantive location they must be prepared from time to time to work across any one of these sites should they be required. PAMS operates in some of the most remote parts of Australia and staff are required to be proficient at driving a 4WD vehicle and willing to f ly in light aircraft.
