The Aboriginal Family Birthing Program aims to improve birth outcomes for Aboriginal women and their families by providing culturally appropriate antenatal, birthing and postnatal care within a continuity of care framework with ongoing family support up to six weeks following the birth.
In this pivotal position, you will work collaboratively with Midwives and Aboriginal Maternal Infant care workers within the Ceduna District Health Services. Promoting continuity and consistency of care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and client care. Utilising your midwifery skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the midwifery team. When you join our dynamic workforce, you will escape the hustle and bustle of city life and be able to take advantage of the endless possibilities for adventure relaxation, recreation and sightseeing. In Eyre & Far North you can experience cultural diversity, outback locations and regional city conveniences, whilst working in innovative roles to improve the community's health outcomes and wellbeing.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student Midwives and less experienced Registered Midwives. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate midwifery care problems.
