Suited to an individual with leadership qualities, the core focus of the role of the Diabetes Nurse Unit Manager is line management, coordination and leadership of nursing/midwifery and/or multidisciplinary team activities to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and outcomes. You will integrate contemporary information and evidence with personal experience to support decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis, and provide pivotal leadership and coordination of patient care delivery to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and outcomes and efficient patient flow. In addition, you will draw on your expertise to implement and coordinate processes for quality improvement and ensure the efficient management of resources with due diligence.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating a broad range of nursing experience and competence in accordance with appropriate standards of practice, you will possess effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation. These skills will equip you to foster a work environment that develops staff potential and facilitates creativity and innovation. Past experience in the supervision of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses will hold you in good stead for this role.
