An opportunity has become available for an experienced leader to join Gold Coast Health as the Director of Nursing (Diagnostic and Sub-specialty Services) where the focus is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
As the Director of Nursing (DASS), you will provide transformational nursing leadership to support evidence based person-centred care that encompasses the Professional Practice Model and is reflective of the principles of the Magnet Recognition Program® for the division.
This role is responsible for the overall strategic, resource, human and financial management of nursing within DASS, including the planning, coordination and direction of policies relating to the provision of evidence based clinical care, development of partnership models and divisional strategies.
You will also influence the health service’s strategic and operational direction and priorities for quality integrated clinical services, focusing on the governance and adherence to National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the Magnet Recognition Program® to improve the organisation’s performance.
To be successful in this role, you will be required to demonstrate expert clinical management and judgement in the provisions of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, NMBA standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation and context of care.
A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion of post-graduate study within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance review process.

The Diagnostic and Sub-specialty Services (DASS) Division encompasses a significant number of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) clinical subspecialties across predominantly medical disciplines. This Division has responsibility for Diagnostic services, Nursing Services Resource Unit staffing unit, and Sub-specialty Services including Cardiology, Renal, Respiratory, Cancer, Haematology, Rheumatology, Palliative Care, Dermatology, Sexual Health, Infectious Diseases and Staff Health, Infection control and Pharmacy
