Position

As an expert practitioner, you will ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department at Port Pirie Hospital. Practising beyond the usual extent of a nurse, at an advanced level with an expanded scope of practice, you will exercise a high degree of autonomy and clinical decision making. You will work both independently and collaboratively with Emergency Department staff, and initiate interventional therapies, medications and use of health appliances or equipment for patients, as well as admitting and discharging patients from the ED. You will accept accountability for your nursing practice, professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy. Make a real difference and feel like an important part of the community. Being part of Country Health SA means you will be supported both personally and professionally, can take advantage of education and training opportunities, will have access to flexible working hours and be part of an inter-professional approach to holistic health care.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner. Demonstrating an advanced level of nursing practice in the care and management of patients presenting to an Emergency Department, you will possess a high level of flexibility, innovation and creativity in the emergency setting. You will also bring prior experience in the supervision of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses.
