You will be responsible for the provision of direct, extended expert nursing care for individuals or groups of clients experiencing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use problems and harms. Providing intake and stability assessments and a range of activities for clients, you will review clients with compliance issues, provide interim prescriptions, facilitate change from methadone to Suboxone, and provide consultancy for nurses stabilising new clients. You will also provide comprehensive bio-psycho social assessments of health status including history and physical examination of clients experiencing alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems. Undertaking nursing care with autonomy and independent clinical decision making within the defined scope of practice, you will initiate and interpret diagnostic pathology and radiology where required. Authorised or eligible for authorisation as a Nurse Practitioner by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will have advanced practice drug and alcohol nursing experience, or in a complementary area of nursing, and be willing to undertake a structured DASSA transition program to achieve credentialing in the alcohol and other drug specialty area. Confident in the case management of complex clients experiencing problems and harms related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, you will be experienced with cognitive behavioural treatment interventions and motivational enhancement therapy.
