Using your clinical knowledge and experience, you will provide pivotal coordination of patient care delivery within the Kangaroo Island Health Service. The main focus of your role will be the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing care to achieve continuity and quality of client care. Undertaking a combination of client care, team leadership and resource management, you will coordinate the health service’s Quality & Safety Programs to meet service and accreditation standards. Utilising available information systems to inform decision making, evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff, you will participate in changing nursing processes and practices in accordance with emerging needs, evaluation results and imminent problems. Accepting accountability for the outcomes of nursing management practices, you will work to address inconsistencies between practice and policy and contribute to a safe and positive work culture in the interest of patient outcomes. Kangaroo Island Health Service provides acute and aged care services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetrics, and outpatients. We offer accident and emergency services, acute inpatient and outpatient services, long stay nursing home accommodation and respite.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating a broad range of nursing experience and competence in accordance with appropriate standards of practice, you will possess effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation. These skills will equip you to foster a work environment that develops staff potential and facilitates creativity and innovation.
