An outstanding opportunity is presented to work within a friendly and supportive team environment at a Hub Regional Centre. As an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurse, you will provide direct person centred nursing/midwifery care or individual case management to patients on a shift-by-shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time. Within the new Emergency Department at Mount Gambier Hospital, you will be involved with assessing individual patient needs, planning and implementing appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines and agencies. Other core activities will include planning and coordinating services with other disciplines or agencies in providing health care needs to the individual, as well as reviewing decisions, assessments and recommendations from less experienced Registered Nurses/ Midwives and Enrolled Nurses and students. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in evaluative research activities within the practice setting.
It is essential that you are registered as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold a current practising certificate. You will bring prior experience and knowledge in Emergency nursing care practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice. Strong communication skills including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills are highly regarded. With experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritising workloads, you will be innovative and flexible upon approaching issues within a rural healthcare setting. Your well developed organisation skills will enable you to work effectively under limited direction, and you will have the ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
