Joining the friendly and community-oriented team at Burra Hospital & Health Services, you will play a vital role in promoting social interaction amongst Aged Care Consumers through the delivery of appropriate activities and programs. Undertaking assessment of residents for Leisure and Lifestyle activity programs, you will liaise with nurses and volunteers regarding individual consumers and their special needs. Incorporating significant events such as festive and symbolic occasions, you will facilitate the activities of volunteers working with consumers in the Organisation’s aged care facilities. You will complete routine documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures, including appropriate risk assessments. You may also be required to assist in the provision of on the job training to volunteers or staff members.

You will need to hold an AQF Certificate III relevant to the position and have prior experience in social programs for elderly/disabled people. This will include involvement with community groups and working with volunteers. Along with your basic knowledge of appropriate activities for elderly/disabled people, you will bring the ability to interact sensitively with diverse personalities, as occurs in aged care populations, and volunteer groups. At all times, you will be committed to using discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
