Position

An interesting and unique position that requires sound knowledge and experience in Diabetes, you will join a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team based in Mount Gambier. As a Clinical Nurse, Diabetes Educator, you will provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing care and individual case management to clients in a defined clinical area of diabetes. A confident relationship builder able to step up to a challenge, you will deal appropriately and relevantly with children, youth, women and their families where there are multiple complexities, diverse cultural backgrounds and expectations of clients. Within pre-determined guidelines, you will assess clients, select and implement different therapeutic interventions, and support programs and evaluate progress. In addition, you will provide health education, counselling and/or therapeutic programs to improve the health outcomes of individual clients or groups.

Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will hold a current practising certificate with notable post registration experience or current classification as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife. With Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, you will hold or be prepared to work towards a relevant post basic qualification in Diabetes Education. You will be a credentialed Diabetes Educator with ADEA. With demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, you will possess effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
