You will contribute to the effectiveness of the sterilisation services at Gawler Health Service. Working under limited direction as an individual or as a team member, you will be required to clean medical equipment in accordance with ASNZ 4187 and comply with occupational health and safety requirements. Implementing your knowledge of how items from all departments are collected, identified and separated for processing, you will identify specific equipment requiring priority processing and identify faulty or damaged instruments/items and report them to the designated authority. Ensuring items are clean, dry and suitable for packaging or dispatch, you will maintain recording systems and optimum standards of sterilisation and stick supply, including the provision of equipment to the wards. Having completed the AQF Certificate III in Sterilising Technology, you will have demonstrated experience in a perioperative and CSSD department environment and GENSA reprocessing standards. You will have sound knowledge of instruments and sterilising methods, along with a good understanding of general hygiene and Infection Control Principles. With proven ability to work well within a team environment, you will be willing to provide assistance and cooperation to other staff. You will be capable of performing under limited direction, meeting set deadlines and timeframes, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
