The Nurse Practitioner/ Nurse Practitioner Candidate Drug and Alcohol Community Outpatient Services will deliver evidenced based clinical practice within and across DASSA's Community based regional (metro and country) clinical services, including reviewing clients whose compliance and adherence to treatment is suboptimal, providing prescribing services within a defined medication formulary (NP), consultancy for nurses stabilising new clients and provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment including history and physical examination of clients experiencing substance use disorders. The Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner Candidate will act with autonomy and undertake nursing care and clinical decision making within the defined scope of practice. The role will provide consultancy for GPs involved in the 'Suboxone Opioid Substitution Programme' (SOSP), and seek to improve health outcomes and treatment retention for vulnerable high risk groups including post release prisoners.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. For appointment at Nurse Practitioner level you must have a requisite Masters and demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, for appointment at Nurse Practitioner Candidate level you must have commenced or is willing to commit to completing an Accredited Nurse Practitioner (Masters) study course and demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice you will bring experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting.
