You will provide consumer-centred mental health nursing care in a variety of health service settings within the Flinders & Far North Region. Working within the Community Mental Health Team, you will provide high quality clinical nursing care to consumers, and monitor consumers’ mental health care plans to ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved on a daily basis. This will involve assessing consumers, selecting and implementing different therapeutic interventions and support programs, and evaluating consumer progress. You will be working with individuals where there are multiple complexities and diverse cultural backgrounds, and will accept accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others, and the guidance and development of less experienced staff. The mental health system is focused on improving service integration, governance, population based services, consumer and carer engagement, and recovery focused care.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With proven experience in Mental Health nursing in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, you will demonstrate a commitment to providing consumer and family centred care. You will also bring prior experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses and Clinicians.
