You will provide high quality clinical nursing expertise to care for patients within the Cardiovascular Investigation Suite at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. As an experienced nurse, you will have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making in the delivery of best practice nursing care. Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, you will assess patients and select and implement different therapeutic interventions or support programs and evaluate patient progress. Part of your duties will be complex discharge planning and hospital avoidance strategies, encompassing the provision of education, equipment and referral.
As a Nurse Consultant you will also provide clinical leadership to less experienced Nurses within the service, accepting accountability for the outcomes of nursing practices for the specific patient group, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and striving to address inconsistencies between practice and policy. With state of the art facilities, the Lyell McEwin Hospital is fast becoming a major tertiary facility. It has close links with the local community that it serves and is dedicated to fostering a culture of trust, integrity and respect.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in leading and promoting consumer engagement initiatives, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
