Practising at an expert level, you will provide clinical nursing expertise for patients within Ward 2A and Ward 2D at Lyell McEwin Hospital. You will exercise a significant degree of autonomy and decision making to primarily provide nursing care, as well as providing clinical leadership to nurses on the Wards. You will continue to develop your capacity for extended practice by increasing your knowledge and skills through ongoing clinical exposure, postgraduate qualifications and mentoring, with supervision by an authorised nurse practitioner and medical staff. You will accept accountability for the outcomes of nursing practices for the specific patient groups, the professional advice given, delegations of care made, and strive to address inconsistencies between practice and policy.

With state of the art facilities, the Lyell McEwin Hospital is fast becoming a major tertiary facility. We provide a full range of high-quality medical, surgical, diagnostic, emergency and support services to a population of more than 350,000 people living primarily in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, and are affiliated with the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and Flinders University.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
