The Older Persons’ Mental Health Service in the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is committed to the development of a dynamic best-practice service. As the Nurse Consultant, you will be a leader within the multidisciplinary team committed to improving the wellbeing of the older person. You will provide a person-centred, recovery-oriented approach in collaboration with older consumers and their carers.

As the nursing clinical lead, you will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary setting, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills and a solution-focused approach to challenges. This approach will be underpinned by dignity principles and a commitment to the Australian Charter of Healthcare rights. You will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager and other senior health professionals to ensure that the Directorate delivers effective and efficient quality mental health services. By positioning community mental health teams at the centre of care in the community and strengthening the resources of these teams, there is a greater potential to intervene earlier and prevent a high incidence of mental health issues among the older population.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated clinical experience in Mental Health and Aged Care settings, including Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), you will be proficient in using information technologies as part of contemporary healthcare practice. You will have prior experience as a leader or manager in the health care industry, and be willing to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.

The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working including part-time. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the flexible working arrangements for this role.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
