Position

You will provide advanced nursing and quality, client-centred primary health care services to Aboriginal women, newly arrived refugee and migrant women, and vulnerable women experiencing family and domestic violence with complex health and social circumstances. You will be supported by the Registered Nurse Clinical Lead, Senior Aboriginal Clinical Health Worker and by staff in the Aboriginal Health Division, and engage in multidisciplinary team work that ensures a coordinated service response to meet the diverse and complex needs of the women accessing the service.

The Women's Health Service offers free health clinics for women who are experiencing domestic and family violence and challenging health issues. Delivering a culturally respectful service for our clients, our health professionals strive to improve access to the service for all women affected by domestic and family violence, encompassing a higher representation of women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated experience nursing in a broad range of clinical settings, including women’s health or community health, you will be capable of providing specialised services such as domestic violence injury documentation and responding to the health needs of women affected by domestic and family violence. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will equip you to relate effectively to people from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds.
