Registered Nurse – ICU
As an experienced ICU RN you are dedicated to providing excellent patient-centered care in order to maximize the health outcomes for the community. You are resilient and organised and understand the complex care of critically ill patients, their families and carers. Your experience in identifying and managing conflict situations will prove invaluable, as does your readiness to handle whatever challenges come your way. Your passion for learning is evident as you understand the benefit and necessity of ongoing professional development. Being an advocate for patients comes naturally to you, and your compassionate nature allows you to connect easily with patients, families and carers from all walks of life.
The Intensive Care Unit is a five bed, Level 3 unit. Care is provided primarily to adult patients requiring High Dependency and Coronary Care, however short term Intensive Care treatment including respiratory and circulatory support is also provided. To be successful you will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to your professional development. You will require strong critical thinking and excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you provide care to a referral community of the 55,200.
Working in the Intensive Care Unit, you are responsible for responding effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of a patient, undertaking hourly rounding, making follow-up phone calls to patients, utilising patient care boards, documenting records, making appropriate referrals, supervising students on clinical placement, participating in safety and quality education, and involving yourself in project work when required make up the role. You will be well supported by experienced staff with two RN’s on every shift and a manager and CNE focused on your learning and work experience.

Set high on the beautiful Northern Tablelands and is known for its beautiful tree lined streets and magnificent autumn colours. You can enjoy alfresco cafes, impressive architecture, a variety of arts and cultural activities. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities such as bush walking in the nearby World Heritage listed National Parks offering spectacular gorges and waterfalls in Australia. Armidale is an educational centre featuring a university, as well as public and private schools, each providing a level of education comparable to any capital city in Australia.
