You will utilise your clinical nursing expertise to contribute to the improvement of high quality, safe mental health services for consumers in rural and remote areas of South Australia. Specifically, you will provide clinical and consultancy services that support the recovery of mental health consumers across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings. As an expert within your area of practice, you will have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making. Primarily providing expert mental health nursing care, you will also provide clinical leadership to nurses within the service and coordinate projects and programs that contribute to improving consumer health outcomes. You will accept accountability for your mental health nursing practice, the outcomes of nursing practices for mental health consumers, the professional advice given, delegations of care made, and strive to address inconsistencies between practice and policy.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With demonstrated expertise in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards, you will be confident in the supervision and leadership of multidisciplinary staff, student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses.
