You will provide comprehensive nursing care covering assessment, information, treatment and referral of people with drug related problems, and give assistance to their family and significant others. These clinical nursing services will be provided to clients with high severity alcohol and drug related problems and concurrent comorbid medical and mental health issues. Assessing clients’ needs, you will participate in planning, implementing and coordinating appropriate service delivery options and communicating changes in clients’ condition and care.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated experienced in a community nursing role, you will be skilled in providing health promotion, psycho-social assessment, case management, counselling, client advocacy, and managing aggressive/disruptive clients in unpredictable environments. Along with knowledge of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and its relationship to mental health and physical health problems, you will be capable of dealing appropriately and relevantly with clients where there are multiple complexities, diverse cultural backgrounds and expectations.
