This is an outstanding opportunity to work within a well-established and supportive regional health service based in Mount Gambier. Within a fast-paced and challenging environment, you will provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing care and individual case management to patients within the Surgical Unit at Mount Gambier Hospital. Primarily, you will be responsible for providing support to the Nursing Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses in the unit/service. This will include assessing individual patient needs, planning and implementing or coordinating appropriate care, in addition to planning and coordinating services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual care.

Contributing to patient safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the unit, you will assist the Nurse Unit Manager in the implementation of practice changes and human resource management such as recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management.

Registered as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will hold a current practising certificate. Your notable post registration experience combined with demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice will be critical to succeed in this role. Proven capabilities to prioritise workload and meet set timelines, whilst working under minimal supervision is required, and you will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a broad range of people and work within a team. A strong relationship builder, you will have the demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction reflecting previous experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
