Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (HHS) is located in south east Queensland and extends
through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.
The HHS serves a population of around 390,000 people which is forecast to increase to around 480,000 by 2021 (an increase of 23%). This level of population growth is reflected in
current demand for services.
- Around one sixth of the population within the HHS area (17.2%) were born overseas
- 3.3% of the HHS population speak a language other than English at home
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders make up 1.5% of the HHS's population - which is 3.5% of Queensland's total Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population.
The Local Government Areas within the HHS area are the Sunshine Coast Council and Gympie Regional Council.
