Health Centre Director Full-time, five-year, fixed-term position Brisbane Girls Grammar School is one of Australia’s leading girls’ schools, established in 1875 as one of Queensland’s original Grammar schools. The role The Health Centre Director will establish and promote the School’s Health Centre as a leader in the provision of best-practice preventative health care within a secondary school setting. The Director will focus on the delivery of health-related education and preventative initiatives in relation to physical and mental health issues affecting young women. The successful applicant will promote excellence in nursing practices and demonstrate experience in the delivery of adolescent health care. Key accountabilities Duties include, but are not limited to: leading Health Centre Staff, including providing supervision and professional development, and assisting with the delivery of primary health care nursing duties as required facilitating the coordination and provision of preventative health care services, and acting as a proactive resource to the Student Care Team in adopting best practice self-care programs to support the needs of students collaborating closely with the Director of Student Counselling, School Psychologists, Heads of House, Outdoor Education Staff and medical practitioners on individual student requirements developing and delivering professional development seminars and workshops on young women’s health issues actively seeking opportunities to present to parent forums and external seminars, conferences and forums on young women’s health initiatives to position the School as a dynamic leader in this field reporting to the Principal, Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team on matters including contemporary health issues affecting young women, risk management, WH&S compliance and trends, privacy policies and insurance claims preparing legislative and School-based reports of collected and analysed data and statistics, and developing reports and proposals to address emerging issues Qualifications and experience required Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Possess relevant additional tertiary qualifications in Education, Nursing or Mental Health Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing adolescent health and wellbeing initiatives Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contemporary health promotion and education Demonstrated staff leadership skills Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams with hands-on delivery of strategic and local level plans, policies, initiatives and reviews Highly developed written, presentation and interpersonal skills, including experience in consultation and stakeholder management with a range of groups, including teachers, health professionals and academic researchers, with the ability to influence change and work collaboratively Ability to prepare and present high-quality policies and reports, and to design and present health education training Current Senior First Aid Certificate/CPR and Defibrillation Certificate Please visit www.bggs.qld.edu.au/employment for a copy of the position description.
