AIM
The Graduate Diploma of
Rural and Remote Mental Health Nursing aims at providing advanced specialist
knowledge and skills in rural and remote mental health nursing to psychiatric
nurse practitioners and as such to prepare clinical leaders in this specific
field of mental health nursing practice.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must be
registered nurses currently holding a current practising certificate in South
Australia enabling them to practice as a registered psychiatric nurse.
Applicants will normally be
required to hold an undergraduate degree or diploma. Applicants may also enter
based on previous studies and experience in nursing assessed to equal 108 points
(see note 1) as required to complete an undergraduate degree.
Prior learning experiences
may be taken into account in assessing eligibility for entry.
Selection for entry will be
made on an academic merit basis using criteria endorsed by the School of Nursing
and Midwifery Graduate Programs Committee.
The subjects are all
available in flexible delivery mode (external packages) and may be taken as 1
year fulltime or 2 years part-time.

- Students will not be able to use points
assessed and used for the purpose of
meeting entry requirements to further credit when enrolled in the course.
- Fees are currently paid by the South Australian Department of Human
Services for South Australian Nurses working in Rural and Remote Mental
Health
