Location and Environs
Swan Hill is situated on the Murray River in
North West Victoria approximately 3¼ hours drive from Melbourne with
fantastic facilities and warm climate, the Swan Hill region caters for
sports enthusiasts all year round. Only minutes from Swan Hill over the
historic Lift Bridge is Murray Downs, featuring one of the best golf
courses on the Murray. River cruises are available aboard the PS Pyap
which depart from the Pioneer Settlement daily. The Swan Hill region has
a thriving agriculture and horticulture sector which supplies quality
fresh produce throughout Australia and overseas. Just 16 kms. south of
Swan Hill on the Murray Valley Highway lies beautiful Lake Boga where
you can swim, sail, jet or water ski, go fishing or just enjoy the
glistening waters.
The Hospital
The Swan Hill District Hospital was established
as the Lower Murray District Hospital in 1860. It was incorporated as
the Swan Hill District Hospital on March 11, 1872.
Swan Hill District Hospital is a fully
accredited sub-regional referral hospital located in the Murray Mallee
region of Victoria, offering range of general specialist acute,
residential aged and primary care services. The hospital offers aged
residential, medical, surgical, palliative, obstetric, district nursing
including HITH and domiciliary nursing totalling 134 beds.
The Graduate Nurse Program
The aim of the Graduate Nurse Program is to
provide clinical support and guidance during transitional phase from
student to registered nurse role, and provide graduate with the
opportunity to consolidate theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in
variety of practice settings in a supportive and friendly learning
environment.
Three (3) part-time (72 hours per fortnight) or
full time (76 hours per fortnight) positions available commencing
January, 2003 with applications closing on September 7, 2002.
