THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN THE REGION YOU WON'T KNOW WHERE TO START!

Ningaloo Marine Park

Ningaloo Marine Park protects Ningaloo Reef the only Western Fringing Reef in the World.  It stretches from for 260kms along the coast and protects a lagoon rich in marine life.  The coral starts at the beach so you don't even have to take a boat out to swim with the manta rays, tropical coral fish, rare starfish and see the beautiful coral formations.  Within the Marine Park you are able to see Dugongs, Whale Sharks, Dolphins and Hump Backed Whales.  During the breeding season Green and Loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.  There are also several historic shipwrecks divers can explore.  If you enjoy a spot of fishing you may do this but only in the Marine Park's recreation and general zones.  Fishing and collecting are not permitted in the Park's eight sanctuary areas.

Cape Range National Park

The park spreads over 50,581ha with its boundry 40km from Exmouth.  It has spectacular scenery with canyons, 50km of pristine beaches and limestone ranges caused by fluctuating sea levels, wind, rain and seaspray erosion.  There are many fossilised rocks in the area and on the west side of the range a fossilized coral reef may be found.

A highlight of the park is Yardie Creek where the water is a clear deep blue giving spectacular reflections of the surrounding canyon walls.  Native wildlife in the park consist of rock wallabies, Euros and red kangaroos.  The Milyering Visitor Centre offers information in the form of models, videos, posters and a library.  On the west coast a number of camping areas and car parks may be found on the shore of Ningaloo Marine Park.  Travellers should note, however, that there is almost no permanent surface water in the Cape Range so water needs to be carried at all times.

Karijini National Park

Karijini National Park is renowned for its spectacular mountains, gorges, water- courses and plateaux, and is second only in size to the State's Rudall River National Park.   In the Northern section of the park gorges with chasms up to 100m deep may be found.  Some are permanently filled with clear fresh water.  Wildflowers maybe found all year but during the cooler months they are in greater abundance.

Millstream-Chichester National Park
This Park offers magnificent views over the coastal plain to the permanent river pools of Millstream. Excellent swimming conditions and informal camping areas are available.  Date palms are found in the park which are believed to have been introduced by camel drivers last century.  There is also a large colony of fruit bats (flying foxes) living in the area.  Python Pool is a picturesque natural rock pool beneath the Chichester Range and is a good spot for swimming.  There is a very informative visitors centre located at the Millstream Homestead.

The climate in this area is tropical with a wet season and a dry season. The best time to visit is in the winter months, April - October  (dry season) as the temperatures are not quite as hot and access is easier, many roads being closed in the wet.

So broaden your experience and consolidate your practice by accepting the challenge of working and living in a very friendly rural community.
